Can you believe I hit the Baking Pan Jackpot?

Vintage Loaf Pans

My obsession continues.  Every time I go picking, I come home with an abundance of old baking pans. It’s like I’m always hitting the baking pan jackpot!  One of my favorite ones that I brought back this time was so rusty that I put it back twice before I picked it up and added it to my pile.  I really thought it was too far gone but it was a style that I didn’t have yet and hadn’t seen before.  And it had a name on it.  I always like the ones with names on them better.  But sometimes, I’ll pick up something that doesn’t have a name on it.  Not very often though.

And next time, I get a stash of them that are as rusty as the ones I just picked up, I’m going to have to do a better job of taking before pics for you all.  I took a few with my phone but it takes awful pictures.  So, don’t critique my camera skills on the before pic of this loaf pan.  Next phone I get will take better pics for sure!  But this loaf pan was sitting in a tub full of water.  And I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to figure out how to get all the rust out of it but I was willing to try for this beauty.

I love how it has a seam on all the edges.  It makes it look more rustic than vintage and almost like cast iron but it’s not.  It is heavier than most of the metal loaf pans I have though.  And it would be really cool hanging on your wall or sitting on your counter as an organizer or just added to a vintage vignette above your cupboards or in a cabinet.  You could also use it outside as a fun planter.  Definitely a treasure in whatever way you use it.

The other ones are not as unique but I love the stains on them.  I can’t help but think about where they came from and the stories they could probably tell about what was made with them.  Things like this just give me warm memories of baking in the kitchen with my mom or grandma.  And I think my love of baking is part of the reason that I’m so obsessed with old baking pans.  You can do so many different things with old baking pans.  I’ve seen online where some people use them in craft projects.  Some people use them for decor.

Do you have any old baking pans?  What do you do with them?  I’m always open to new ideas and would love to hear yours!
