I knew when we moved into our house that we’d eventually need to spend some time (ok, a lot of time) on the landscaping. And I love the look of the old with the new! New plants with fun & frugal rustic yard art that I’ve picked up here and there. I’ve been picking up stuff for the landscape for a couple of years now. I had intended on getting on the landscaping last year but you know how life can get too busy! Well, last summer, life totally disrupted my master plan! Haha
Some of you may remember that we bought a flipped house. No, we didn’t flip it. Someone else did but I guess it was in really, really bad shape before the flipper fixed it up. The inside of the house was basically done when we bought it. The outside, well, as we’re finding, it appears they put a lot of band-aids on it to make it look good to sell. We took out quite a few trees when we moved in that were dead or overgrown or planted way to close to the house. Then we took out a few stumps that we found as well. And we’ve since uncovered at least 6-8 more stumps that were covered up with mulch. And we’ve taken out 2 more trees. Thankfully, that’s it for stumps and trees! (I hope!)
Now we get to do the fun stuff! We finally have all the areas of the house planted and just need to keep them watered and alive! (Easier said than done!) But I get to pull out all the stuff that I’ve been hoarding to use for my yardscaping! Yeah! It’s so fun to finally see it all coming together! I love the look of the old with all the new growth! And I can’t wait until next year when everything is settled in and I can enjoy the old with all the new blooms!
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again! I really do love our new home! It is turning out amazing and I love how we’ve settled into it. My fingers are crossed that this year is the last one with a lot of work that needs to be done and for the years to come, we can just enjoy! But if you know me well enough, you’re probably shaking your head and saying something like, “Yeah, right, Lori! Like you ever sit back and just enjoy!” Yep, that’s me! Always finding something to keep me busy! LOL
Hope you enjoy my picture collage of all my treasures and landscaping! It’s definitely a frugal way to decorate!
Here are a couple of my friends that showed up during the photo shoot. The little one is literally about the size of my pinky fingernail. And the other is one of the three that live in my pond.
